Beep! Beep!” I touched it and was surprised to see that it turned into gold! I thought, “Hey, this is going to be awesome! I’ll become rich with this much gold!” I rushed into the kitchen and sat down on my chair to eat breakfast. But when I touched one of my strawberries, it turned into gold. I decided to eat my breakfast with a fork since I couldn’t touch it with my hand. Guess what? When I used the fork that turned into gold and used the utensil to pick up another strawberry, it turned into gold too!

I discovered that I couldn’t eat my breakfast or drink water because they would turn into gold. Next, I walked into my room hungrily. I tried to brush my teeth, bathe myself, and get dressed as I do every morning, but with the power of turning everything I touch into gold, it wasn’t the same. I had to still wear my pajamas, and I tried to rest on my bed, but it turned into gold, too. “Why is this happening to me?” I cried. When I tried to cuddle with my American girl doll, it turned into a golden doll. Her skirt was golden, her shoes were golden, even her hair was golden.

I whispered to myself, “I have to find a way to stop this golden touch! It’s driving me crazy and I can’t do anything!” I walked into the living room and saw my dad. He came over to hug me, and I tried to run away, but I accidentally touched his hand. My dad turned into a golden statue, and I burst into tears. But when all seemed lost, my mom asked me what was wrong. Before she hugged me, I quickly explained to her that anything I touched would turn into gold.

When I told her the sad and tragic news about my dad, my mom told me she knew a great, powerful, talented wizard. My mom told me that he was next door, so we walked outside and on the sidewalk. Mom rang the doorbell, and a wizard with a blue hat, long, white beard, and a black wand came out. We asked if we could come in, and I explained to him about the problem. The wizard’s name was Phillips, and he said that he knew a spell that could change everything that I touched that turned gold back into a nongold thing. “Does it also work on humans?” I questioned the wizard. “Yes, it does!” he responded. I sighed with relief. “I need to know your name, lass.” he told me. I replied, “My name is Kruti!”

“Okay, here we go! O magical wand from a hazel tree, make sure that when Kruti touches anything, it doesn’t turn into gold. Make sure to turn everything she turned gold back into a nongold thing!” he chanted. “Now touch something, Kruti, and see if it turns into gold.” he instructed. I touched a beautiful, elegant vase with lovely roses, and it didn’t turn into gold! “Hooray!” I shouted joyfully. “Now everything I touch won’t turn into gold!”

“Thank you for all your hard work, Phillip! You truly are a wonderful wizard!” I commented. “Well, I never got so much praise! Thank you, Kruti!” Phillip replied, blushing. We strolled back to our house, and I hugged my dad tightly. He asked, “What happened?” I answered, “I accidentally turned you into gold when you hugged me. Sorry, Dad.” “It’s okay, Kruti.” Dad said in a smooth, soft voice. “You’re the best father in the world!” I told him. “And you’re the best daughter I could ever have!” he replied.

“I think you should thank Phillip, the wizard next door. After all, he was the one who resolved the problem.” I explained to Dad. “Whoa, we have a wizard next door? Cool! I didn’t even know that!” Dad exclaimed. “Neither did I!” I responded. “Okay, that’s enough chatting for now!” Mom said. It was a miracle that I got help from a wizard next door. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have lived happily ever after like in other books. I knew that this definitely wasn’t a dream, but if it was, I would consider it a nightmare instead.
