Puran Poli is an Indian flatbread stuffed with sweet lentil filling. In Gujarat, it is known as Vedmi because its made from Toor Daal. Daal is pressure cooked and then cooked in a pan, adding sugar and cardamom powder. This forms the fillings of Puran Poli or, as it is called, Puran. The outer layer is made with whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour called Poli. It is made during festivals such as Diwali, Raksha Bandhan, Navratri, or Holi. It can be served as a side dish during lunch or dinner or as a dessert.
Ingredients: Turbinado Sugar, Cardamom Powder, Toor Daal, Ghee, Whole Wheat Flour, Salt, Oil, and Water.
