Baked Savory Shakarpara is a popular Gujarati snack. The dough for savory is made of flour, different spices, and combination of carom and cumin seeds. Traditionally, savory shakarpara are deep fried, instead I have baked them. They are perfect bite-size healthy snack and can be made all year around for snacking.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Whole Wheat Flour
- 1/2 TSP Salt
- 1 TSP Brown Sugar
- 1/2 TSP Chilli Powder
- 1/2 TSP Carom Seeds
- 1/2 TSP Cumin Seeds
- water as required
- 2 TBSP Sunflower Oil
Instructions
- In a blow, mix whole wheat flour, turmeric powder, brown sugar, salt, chilli powder, carom seeds, and cumin seeds.
- Add oil and mix it.
- Then start kneading the dough.
- Add water as required to make a soft and smooth dough.
- Cover the dough with a paper towel and let it rest for about 30 minutes.
- Roll the dough into a thin sheet. Prick on the sheet using a fork.
- Cut the sheet in your desired shape using a cookie cutter.
- Place it on the baking sheet and bake it at 375°F until golden brown on both sides.
- Once baked, let it cool completely.
