My parents surprised me by putting my best friend, Zoe, and me on a plane to go to Hawaii! When we landed, Zoe and I first booked an elegant, 5-star hotel called Poi. I wondered why it was called that. Zoe insisted that she pays for half of the price and I pay for the rest of the price.
In the hotel, we ate amazing foods. I ate poi, strawberries, and a banana while drinking poi juice. Zoe appetized on strawberries, a banana, and fish while drinking a glass of nice and cool watermelon juice. Now I realized why the hotel was called “Poi”. It was because it had a lot of poi snacks.
Next, we saw people hula-dancing. Even some children were dancing! They wore flower leis. We decided to join in on the fun! But first, we bought leis. Then we danced to the Hawaiian music. Zoe asked me if we could have lunch because all the hula-dancing was making her hungry. I answered, “Yes! We’ll have their special dessert!”
We went back to our hotel and ate a delicious, sweet treat: pineapple upside-down cake!
After that, we got a great helicopter tour of Kilauea! It looked so cool! Zoe and I took pictures and sent them to our friends. We were awestruck by the eruption of the volcano.
Zoe and I got off of the helicopter and then took another flight to visit Honolulu, Oahu. We booked another hotel there called The Honolulu Hotel. “What a funny name for a hotel!” Zoe said, laughing hysterically. We walked inside the hotel and ate an appetizing breakfast. Zoe and I ate pineapple slices, strawberries, and a banana. We also drank pineapple juice. Then, we rushed outside to visit the largest maze in the world! We finished the maze in no time!
Zoe and I walked back to our hotel. We were so tired! We slept for five hours and then it was already dinnertime. So Zoe and I ate pineapple slices and drank pineapple juice. We went back into our hotel room and brushed our teeth, got dressed in our PJs, and went to bed.
The next morning we had to wake up at six because we had to fly to Kauai to visit Mount Waialeale. We got ready and took a flight to the garden island.
When we reached our destination, we first booked our last hotel: Kokea. The food was so scrumptious! We ate strawberries, pineapples, and poi again. Then we visited Mount Waialeale: the rainiest spot in the U.S.
Zoe and I saw so much rain falling. It’s a good thing that we learned about Mount Waialeale in social studies! Otherwise we would’ve gotten soaked wet in the rain! I told Zoe, “Mount Waialeale gets about 460 in. of rain a year!” She responded, “Wow! That’s a lot of rainfall!”
Finally, it was time to say good-bye to Kauai. Zoe and I were going back to our state: New Jersey. We took a flight back to New Jersey. We landed in Newton, New Jersey. A taxi then picked us up. It took a long time for each of us to reach our houses. Once I reached my house, I rang the doorbell several times. My parents opened the door. I hugged them and thanked them for planning the surprise trip to Hawaii, Oahu, and Kauai. They answered, “You’re welcome!”
I had the best time in the three islands: Hawaii, Oahu, and Kauai!
