The Dusty, Old Box
One day, I found a dusty old box in the garage that I’ve never seen before. When I opened it, there was just an old, black watch. I looked closer and saw that instead of telling the time it had the seven continents. It had switches for each and every country to visit. I did the one that would take me to India. What I didn’t realize until I met Mohandas Gandhi was that I was in the past. I met Mohandas Gandhi on the streets. We walked to his house and did meditation in there. I said good-bye to him and transported myself to Paris, France – the place I’ve been longing to go to since I was 7 years old.
“Wow! This place is so amazing!” I thought. I reached into my pocket and noticed that I had French money! There was a wonderful bakery with croissants, macarons, and other sweets. I bought one purple macaron and one croissant covered with melted chocolate. They were so delicious! I ate them while watching a mime performing, and he had a red flower on top of his hat. It’s a good thing I learned about Marcel Marceau in French class! Otherwise I wouldn’t have recognized the mime. I exclaimed, “Bonjour, Marcel Marceau! Comment ca va?” He stopped performing for the huge crowd and answered, “Je vais bien! Quel est votre nom?” “Je m’appelle Kruti!” I replied joyfully. “Voulez-vous regarder mon emission?” Marcel asked me. “Oui, j’aimerais!” “D’accord!” Marcel said. I watched his show for one hour and then I left to transport myself to Australia.
“I must be in the Aboriginal times! I better be quiet though! I don’t want anybody to see me.” I thought. I hid behind a thick, tall tree. I peeked outside and saw one Aborigine outside. She was walking towards the tree I was behind! I quickly transported myself to Egypt.
In Egypt, I thought, “This must be the present time in Egypt!” I asked a tourist to tell me about the Sphinx while I took pictures with a camera that appeared mysteriously in my pocket. I thanked her for the information and transported myself back home in Bloomfield, New Jersey. I thought that my mom was worried. But that wasn’t what happened.
Back at home, I shouted loudly, “I’m back!” My mom came into the room and asked, “What are you talking about? It’s only been one minute!” I replied, “You are never going to believe this, but I just found a time traveling watch and it took me to places in different times! I went to Egypt, India, Australia, and France!” My mom didn’t believe me, but I held the watch up and said, “See? I have actual proof!” Then my mother believed that I went to all the places I mentioned.
That is the end of my amazing adventure to different places around the world in different time periods!
