- 2 cups dry black eyed peas
- 1 TSP cumin seeds
- 8 vine tomatoes chopped
- 3 TBSP sunflower oil
- 1 TSP turmeric powder
- 1 TSP garam masala
- 4 TSP salt
- 2 TBSP brown sugar
Instructions
- Soak black eyed peas in 3 cups of water overnight or for about six hours. Use pressure cooker to cook black eyed peas.
- Heat oil in a pot. Add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle. Add turmeric powder. Add chopped tomatoes. Cook it until tomatoes soften for about 20 minutes. Stir it.
- Add garam masala, salt, brown sugar, and black eyed peas. Mix well.
- Let it cook for about 8 minutes.
- Serve it with rice.
