Three Keys Book Review by Kruti!!!

Imagine that you’re sitting in your room, reading a book. You flip through the last few pages and finish it. Now, you get up and look at your next book choices to read. You can’t decide which one to read next! May I offer a great book suggestion?

Three Keys is a fantastic book by the author Kelly Yang. It’s about a girl named Mia Tang who immigrated, or moved from one country to another, to the U.S. from China. They work at a motel called the Calivista. Recently, Mia and her family have bought the motel from Mr. Yao, the original owner of it. Her family has been working with their friends: Lupe, her dad, Hank, Mrs. T., Mrs. Q., Billy Bobby, and more! This year, Mia has moved on to sixth grade. And is it tough! Her teacher doesn’t really like her writing, and the investors paying for the motel are asking Mia and her family questions about the profits. On top of all of that drama, a new law called the 187 Prop has its rumors, and if it passes, it could threaten the lives of Mia, her family, and their immigrant friends! With confidence and bravery, Mia, her family, and friends will proceed through change together, even when Lupe’s father is in prison, her mom is nowhere to be found, and people are writing mean messages on the walls of the Calivista Motel and Mia’s school!

This book is inspiring to young children that even one child can change something in their city, county, state, country, continent, or even the world! It is a very interesting book that is one-of-a-kind, and its author deserves the prize she got for writing these amazingly written books: the Winner of the 2019 Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature. In conclusion, if you’re stumped on which book you should read next, consider yourself to be lucky! Check this book out at the library today! Trust me, even though there are about 62 chapters in it, it’s worth all of the reading!
