Vada pav is a mouthwatering vegan Indian street food from Bombay. Boiled spiced mashed potatoes are deep in a gram flour batter and deep fried until crisp and placed in a roll bread with chutney. Vada pav also can be accompanied by some fried green chillies. Vada pav can be served as a brunch, snack or breakfast.
Ingredients to make vada pav filling are potatoes, boiled and mashed 6 large, 4 finely chopped green chillies, 1 cup finely chopped cilantro, juice of 2 limes, 1 TBSP mustard seeds, 8 curry leaves, 1 TSP turmeric powder, and salt to taste.
Ingredients to make vada pav batter are 2 cups gram flour, 1/4 TSP turmeric powder, 1/4 TSP Kashmiri red chilli powder, and 1 TSP salt.
Other Ingredients to make vada pav are Origninal Hawaiian Sweet Rolls, dry red chutney, and sunflower oil for deep frying.
Ingredients to make dry red chutney are 4 TBSP dry grated coconut, 2 TSP Kashmiri red chilli powder, 2 TBSP sesame seeds, 1 TBSP sugar, 1 TBSP sunflower oil, roasted peanuts, and salt to taste.
