Adventures with Hanuman is a fun-filled book about a boy named Raghu. He longs for adventure, and one night, when tucked in bed, Hanuman, a monkey God in the Indian culture, on Raghu’s poster, comes to life. Hanuman sits on Raghu’s bed and tells him to hop onto Hanuman’s shoulders. Soon, they blast out the window and go to the land of Ramayana. They fight a frightening lion, and hideous rakshasas, and soon reach the place where Hanuman’s monkey and bear friends live.

Raghu finds a small shell and uses it to change size during adventures with Hanuman. They rescue Sita, find the cure for Lakshmana when he’s hit by Indrajit’s arrow, and wreck Lanka. Just when everything seems so fun, it’s time to say goodbye to the land of Ramayana and all of Raghu’s adventures. Hanuman brings Raghu back to his house, and Raghu says goodbye to Hanuman one last time. When Raghu wakes up the following day, he thinks his adventure is just a dream. However, when Raghu gets out of bed to brush his teeth, something falls out of his pocket. The shell! He grabs the shell that made him turn small in Ramayana and Lanka and puts it in one of his drawers.

This is an adventurous book told by Arshia Sattar and illustrated by Sunaina Coelho. It also is educational because it teaches people of all ages about Hanuman. With a bit of humor and magic added in, this book is your go-to story when searching for a new tale to let your eyes peer at. Adventures with Hanuman makes you feel like you’re there, watching all of the breathtaking action happen, with illustrations and vivid details. I suggest you check the book out of the library and start reading it immediately!
