“The Last Kids on Earth and the Nightmare King” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Do you love adventure books? Do you love fantasy? Do you love monsters? Then this book is right for you!

The Last Kids on Earth and the Nightmare King is a fun book about a thirteen-year-old orphan named Jack. He and his friends live in a treehouse during the post-zombie apocalypse. Soon, his friends discover that they may not be the only kids left on Earth, as they hear a voice talking to them through a walkie-talkie in an old firefighter station. Everyone is all excited; they can finally go back to their families! Well, except for Jack. He’s not happy and is actually afraid that his friends will leave him.

Jack decides to show his friends that they would have the BEST time together and tries to attract everyone into fun stuff instead of working on the radio. At his encounters of the King Wretch, he starts having these weird visions. The radio soon becomes complete after Quint finds an antenna for it. Jack decides this is perfect, since he could make up an excuse for them to go to a fun, awesome place that would draw away their attention from the radio! They go to Fun Land, a true-to-its-name amusement park where everyone has-you guessed it!-fun! But since there are a lot of zombies and monsters lurking, it doesn’t really go well. Jack and his friends have to battle Rezzoch-he’s the one who planned on destroying Earth and is the antagonist in the book-so that no one ends up perishing….

This is a quirky and fun book, featuring pictures for help in visualizing what the characters and action look like. I’d recommend The Last Kids on Earth and the Nightmare King to 8-12 year old children. You might even be able to relate to some characters. For example, if you’re a video game fan, you could possibly relate to Jack and Quint. Or, if you are a cowboy fan, you can relate to Dirk, one of Jack’s friends. In conclusion, this book is an amazing one! So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and start reading it!!!
