Imagine this: You’re flipping through the pages of your book and then come to the last page. You slam the book shut. Finished! You stroll to the library with your library card-of course you would have to take it with you. how else can you borrow other books?-and look around for books. Hmmm. Which one should you borrow? You can’t decide! Do you ever get in this situation? Let me give you a suggestion: The Last Kids on Earth and the Cosmic Beyond!
It’s winter in the town of Wakefield during the post-monster-and-zombie apocalypse, and Jack and his friends are showing their monster buddies at Joe’s Pizza about the fun and delight of the magical season since the monsters are afraid of the snow! They’ve never seen anything like it before and think it’s “dangerous!” More news: a new human villain takes Jack’s ultimate weapon: the Louisville Slicer! (That’s weird, though. I thought that Jack and his friends were the last kids on Earth. It’s ironic.)
They discover that their pal, Dirk, has been bitten by a zombie! Jack, Quint, and June quickly go into action, retrieving an eyeball from a monster named Warg. Dirk would have to drink from it to be cured, but the only problem is that he was taken by the human villain, who works for Rezzoch, at a cinema. The group, excluding Dirk, finds out that the human villain, Evie, is trying to summon Ghazt, a server of Rezzoch who can control zombies. Jack, Quint, and June go to the cinema where Evie, the villain, is with a monster whom Jack named Meathook. What will happen next? Will Jack and his friends succeed in preventing Dirk from turning into a zombie?
This book is fun and interesting! I would recommend it to readers ages 8-12 years old. It’s full of high-five adventure, monsters, zombies, and the motive of teamwork! This book was illustrated by Douglas Holgate and written by Max Brallier. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and read The Last Kids on Earth and the Cosmic Beyond!
