“Nancy Drew: The Secret of the Old Clock” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Do you love mystery books? Do you want to read an excellent book? I suggest you take a look at this recommendation, then!

Nancy Drew: The Secret of the Old Clock is an amazing book that’s written by Carolyn Keene. This book is about an eighteen-year-old sleuth named Nancy Drew, who is driving in her convertible when she sees a child fall into the river off of the bridge. She rescues the child, whose name is Judy, and brings the girl back to her great aunts, the Turners’. The two Turner sisters tell Nancy about Josiah Crowley and how he promised to leave them money in his will, but mysteriously didn’t. The two sisters then notice that some of their possessions are gone, so Nancy remembers seeing a moving van. The people in it must have stolen the possessions! Nancy follows the tire marks on the road in her convertible, but soon stops when she sees no more marks.

Nancy Drew goes back to River Heights to a police station to report a robbery, giving a description of what the van and the men looked like. She drives home and has dinner with her father, a lawyer, and the housekeeper, discussing what happened that day. Nancy can’t help but think that there might be a later will, even though there was a will that gave all of Josiah’s property to the Tophams’. She goes shopping for a beautiful dress the next day at Taylors’ and finds one that was ruined by Ada and Isabel Topham. She asks for it to be mended and buys it, receiving a fifty percent discount!

Mr. Drew and Nancy Drew have lunch with Mr. Rolsted, a college friend of Mr. Drew. He tells them about Josiah Crowley and that Josiah came to him to ask about writing a will. Nancy delivers papers to the judge the next morning and has to pull over inside a barn once it starts raining. Nancy meets the Hoover girls, who are friends of Josiah Crowley, and celebrates Allison’s, one of the Hoover girls, birthday! The Hoover girls talk about Josiah Crowley and how he promised to leave them money in his will, but never did. Nancy said that she believed there was a later will. She drives home and tells her father about what happened. Mr. Drew sets up an appointment to ask the Hoover girls a few questions. Nancy brings the Hoover girls to a music teacher so that Allison can get singing lessons if the music teacher will teach her. He only allows talented students to be taught. Allison is accepted, but the girls know it will cost a lot of money.

The next day, Nancy meets two cousins of Josiah, Fred and William, who tell Nancy about Josiah Crowley and how he promised to leave them money in his will, but never did. They don’t give her any useful clues, however. Nancy remembers that the Turners’ told her about Abby Rowen. The next morning, Nancy drives to Abby Rowen’s house and asks her about Josiah Crowley. She remembers that he told her about a clock and a notebook that was tiny and blue. Nancy leaves after mending the old woman’s ankle.

Nancy Drew sells charity tickets to the Turners’ given to her by a friend of hers. She inquires about a fancy clock they have, and the Tophams’ say that they sold Josiah’s clock to their bungalow at Moon Lake. What luck! Nancy thinks it’s perfect because she can go to Moon Lake and solve the mystery-her friend invited her to go to Moon Lake, so she can make it look smooth! Nancy arrives at Moon Lake, and after two days of failing to solve the mystery, she finally reaches the bungalow, seeing the same van and men who stole some possessions from the Turners’! Nancy looks inside the bungalow, but doesn’t see the clock. It must have been taken by the men! The thieves see Nancy after she sneezes and lock her in the closet, driving away! What will Nancy do? Will she ever solve the case of the later will-well, if there is one-or will she starve there?

This book is full of twists and turns! It’s a great book if you’re a mystery fan! I loved this book! The suspense of the mystery was very delightful! This book is still a favorite for many children, including me, despite the fact that it was published many years ago! So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and read Nancy Drew: The Secret of the Old Clock!!!
