Diwali is a celebration of 5 days. It’s the festival of lights triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. The five days of the festival are Dhanteras, Choti Diwali, Diwali, Padva, and Bhai Dooj. On Dhanteras, people buy gold, silver, and clothes as a symbolism of good luck. On Choti Diwali, people offer Puja and light diyas. Diwali is the third day and is when Goddess Lakshmi is believed to bless people. On Padva, Lord Krishna defeated Indra, and people make a small hillock to symbolize Govardhan. The last day of Diwali is Bhai Dooj, when sisters perform a tilak ceremony on their brother. The sisters pray that their brothers live a happy life, and in return, the brothers give a gift to the sisters. People also display fireworks on this day.
My dad’s side family came over to our house to celebrate Diwali. First, I greeted Motadaddy, Motamom, Ba, Dada, Maahirbhai, and Jeetbhai. Next, we devoured delicious Indian food. Then, I spent time with Maahirbhai and Jeetbhai and played Among Us, a game, with Maahirbhai. Lastly, I had fun with them on that day.
