Do you like donuts? Do you want to start a business? Then read about this amazing book called The Donut Fix and enjoy it yourself!
Usually, some people would say that this book doesn’t have any imagination or creatures in it. While I was thinking it was going to be fantasy, even without the fiction, it’s still pretty good. The cover had a raccoon with a donut, so I had different ideas about the book and what it was going to be about. However, I read the back of the book’s summary and realized the truth about the book. Being narrated by a boy with two siblings and two parents makes it even better for me to read!
It starts off with that boy I was talking about earlier, Tristan. Tristan lives in the perfect city. It’s large, and it’s even better because….Charlie is there! Charlie and Tristan are best friends, and they have been ever since they met. However, even though everything seems so good, the positivity stops. Tristan finds out they’re moving to an unknown town named Peterson. Not much there.
How could this happen?! Tristan and Charlie are supposed to be friends together forever, right? Well, there’s no way to go back. They move to Peterson. At first, Tristan doesn’t have friends. He tries writing to Charlie, but the Charlie who responds isn’t like the Charlie he knows. Charlie is….different.
Tristan finds a boy named Josh, and they also become friends. Best friends, maybe. Juuust maybe. Anyway, Tristan decides to start a business with a woman’s donut recipe. The woman stopped making them a few years ago, but the donuts are back baby! Tristan has to figure out how to run a business properly, deal with a business license, (what the heck is a business license?) find out what a business license is…but before all that, he has to prove he can use the recipe properly.
He makes a molten chocolate cake, and he gets to use the donut recipe. Later on, he starts making the donuts and then modifies the recipe to make it life changing. Having to deal with his sister and his jealousy of her, Zoe’s, his other sister, young childish annoyance, and this business. Can this kid really do all of this? Find out in the book!
I love this book and rate it 5 stars. I honestly love Zoe’s character as well as Tristan’s personality. They are my favorite characters. They are a good team sometimes. So go ahead and read The Donut Fix!
