Today, I had my fourth session with Girl Scouts. It was exciting and a bit tiring today since we got to dance as well as learn about self-care. We even made our own lip scrubs!
First, we learned about a woman named Karyn, who came to talk to us today. She’s a banker as well as a ballroom dancer! I got to sit next to my friend, Vedanti, as well! Next, we got started with the interview. Josephine asked questions to Karyn about her career and tips from her.
Karyn explained that there were difficult obstacles in her career sometimes, like with new family, new positions, etc. So what she did was self-care. Karyn started to eat healthy and did things that helped her relax, like dancing. Dancing was a hobby for her, and she does ballroom dancing. The surprise today was that her two dancing teachers came in and introduced themselves. They told their stories about getting into dancing. We did two dances after they demonstrated one. It was fun!
Then the Art Hut workers came, and we made lip scrub! First, we got a bowl of sugar. Next, we put a bit of coconut milk in it. Then we chose our essential oil flavor and mixed it all up. I chose lemon since it’s my second favorite Rita’s Ice flavor! 🙂 Lastly, we put it in a tiny jar.
Last but not least came the raffle! I didn’t win anything this time. I wish I won the grand prize. It had essential oils and more for a self-care kit, and it was what I kind of wanted. But what was unfair was that an eighth grader (maybe) got to go to a CLOTHING STORE! Why did they leave out the fifth graders? Don’t they think that they also like clothing? Anyways, I’m sad I didn’t win anything, but that’s okay. All that matters is that I enjoyed my time here today and learned about self-care. And some new dance moves!
