“Cupcake Diaries: Katie and the Cupcake Cure” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Hello! Today, I will be talking about a book that will make you hungry for cupcakes, but also fill you in on a creative story! You definitely don’t want to miss out on this book! It’s too good!

Cupcake Diaries: Katie and the Cupcake Cure is the start of the Cupcake Club and stars Katie. Katie can’t wait for middle school and feels like it’s going to be just like elementary school. But when she sees Callie hanging out with mean and popular girls, who are part of a Popular Girls Club, Katie wakes up from her sweet middle school fantasy and is pulled into a horrible middle school nightmare!

Katie hopes that Callie is in her classes. They haven’t really talked to each other in the summer. Katie ends up getting embarrassed in almost every single one of her classes because of the popular girls. She meets another girl named Mia. Mia transferred to this school from Manhattan, so she’s new. But they enjoy talking and actually might be friends. Yet, every other class, Callie isn’t in. Katie has a rough start to middle school.

Katie and Mia start hanging out a bit more and become buddies. They also meet two other girls, Alexis and Emma. They all sit together at lunch one day, and Katie brings a cupcake. She promises to bring more next time, so that’s when Katie starts to bring cupcakes for everyone every Friday. They enjoy eating them. They even get an idea to start a Cupcake Club while talking about the PGC (Popular Girl Club). Every Friday, each girl will take turns to make cupcakes and bring them to school. But since some don’t know how to make them, Katie teaches them all at her house.

The girls hear about a dance coming up from the school, but the school need more money in order for that to happen. So a fundraiser contest is established. Whoever raises the most money gets a prize! So Alexis brainstorms and thinks that they should do a cupcake sale! They would have to make about 200 cupcakes, but it would be worth it, anyway. They have some time to prepare for this, and they decide to make a few dozen every Saturday. Soon, after finishing baking delicious vanilla cupcakes with colorful designs for weeks, they’re ready.

At first, the cupcakes aren’t really selling. People are going mostly to the makeup booth, but after realizing how terrible the makeup is, they come to the cupcake booth. Before they know it, about 180 cupcakes are sold! The winner is announced after the money gets counted, and it’s….Guess what? You’re gonna have to read the book to find out.

I love this book so much! I would rate it 5 stars because of its originality, creativity, and humor. The characters are fun to read about. I would recommend this book to people who are ages 9 and above as well as people starting middle school. Clearly, this is the right pick for you. And after finishing this book, read the next one! It will be amazing and full of sweetness.
