The spooky holiday, Halloween, is coming up, and what’s a better way to enjoy it than learning about some cute, but deadly creatures? Today, we’ll be talking about 6 animals that can fit this description. Some might even surprise you!
The first one is a bird called the pitohui. The name sounds weird, but don’t get the wrong image from that! This bird has poisonous feathers! Eating the whole bird would cause an animal to get very sick. Its feathers are a warning sign to not eat them, being the color of orange and black. But will that stop every animal from eating this bird? Probably not. But if you see it, be careful with its feathers.
The second one is the Tasmanian Devil. This is an obvious sign that it’s vicious, but an explanation why is that they have a strong bite force. The Tasmanian Devil rips apart animals’ bones and carcasses. They sound scary, but the truth is that they aren’t very harmful to humans. So do not fear them, because they’re shy as well. But don’t bother them and just let them be.
Our third creature on this list is a bright orange toadlet. Awww, it’s adorable! But don’t let that lure you into coming closer to it. That orange color is a warning to predators so that they don’t eat it. The bright orange toadlet is very toxic and can be a bit endangering. (By the way, a toadlet is a mini version of a toad.)
Moving on to the fourth animals on our list: dogs and cats! You might not have believed this when you read it, but do not be mislead about these creatures. Their ancestors were really famous for making several species become extinct, such as birds, mammals, and reptiles. But that doesn’t mean that dogs and cats can’t be aggressive. You should be cautious if you own a cat or dog and not let them go off on their own.
Now, we have the platypus as our fifth animal. It looks kind of adorable, right? It has beautiful fur and a cute tail, so what’s not to love about it? Their feet, that’s what. The heels carry venomous spurs, and getting an injection from it can seriously harm you. The toxins are to help fend off predators that will try to eat them. Still, you shouldn’t interfere with platypuses and their lives. It’s not recommended to do so.
Last, but not least, is the crested rat. It’s the size of a rabbit and has fuzzy fur. But petting it is not the wisest decision. The hairs are covered with toxic mixtures. The crested rabbit eats poisonous plants and makes its spit poisonous. Then it licks the hairs, and holes absorb the spit. The predators definitely won’t try to eat it anymore after taking one bite. And when this creature feels intimidated, it raises its hairs.
Now you know all about these animals. You should definitely tell your friends about what you learned.
