“Cupcake Diaries: Katie, Batter Up!” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Hello! Today, we will be talking about the 5th book in the Cupcake Diaries series: Cupcake Diaries: Katie, Batter Up! You should consider reading this next book, and if you’re not sure, you will be after this review.

Cupcake Diaries: Katie, Batter Up is a book about a girl named Katie from the Cupcake Club. She started the whole thing and now make cupcakes with her new best friends as a business and for fun. Katie sits and discusses cupcakes and plans with her friends at lunch. And it seems very fun and exciting!

One day, though, Katie realizes that all of her friends have something or things they’re good at other than baking cupcakes/running the cupcake business. But Katie doesn’t really do anything like that except for baking cupcakes. (That’s just sad, Katie, no offense.) So, she decides to talk to her mom about trying something new. But what will she do?

Being a total clutz in gym doesn’t help the problem at all. But is she bad at all sports? What about volleyball? Basketball? No, she’s bad at those. Katie later calls her grandma and finds out that she was very good at sports and played at games. So Katie decides to practice other sports with Alexis and Mia, her friends who also play sports and are part of the Cupcake Club as well.

Katie tries to kick the ball as practice for soccer, but that doesn’t work out. She keeps kicking it in the wrong direction. But when a ball gets thrown to Katie, she catches it. Looks like they found a sport for Katie to play: softball! (I was thinking baseball, to be honest, but pretty similar.) And it wasn’t just luck. They kept passing the ball to each other, and Katie always caught it. So Katie decides she’ll try out for the softball team to get another activity into her cupcake life!

Katie practices catching the ball as well as going on runs with her mom. She also starts practicing being the batter by swinging the ball with the bat. But even though it still needs improvement, it’s fine! Right? On the day of the tryouts, Katie gets really apprehensive and jittery. She still goes, though, and aces at pretty much everything except for the batter part a bit. Katie hopes she makes it on the team, but she’ll only find that out on Monday. Will she get in? Read the book to find out what happens next!

Cupcake Diaries: Katie, Batter Up! is an excellent book, and I would rate it 5 stars. Its plot is pleasant to read, and the characters are humorous and kind of like my friends and me! So, I really think you should read this book because it will entertain you and probably make you hungry for cupcakes and more of the books! Go ahead and read this book in the series, and if you’re interested, read the books before this book in the series!
