Spicy Khichdi – Khichdi is a healthy and easy Indian rice made with rice, green moong dal, garlic-ginger-chili paste, and spiced up with spices. Also, garam masala makes this spicy and tasty masala Khichdi. There are many variations to how a Khichdi is made in India. Every household has its twist to the recipe. You can make it in porridge consistency or not so mushy. Enjoy it with a dollop of ghee, pickle, plain yogurt or kadhi, and papad.
Ingredients
- ½ cup white rice
- ½ cup green split moong dal
- 3 tsp ghee
- 1 tsp sunflower oil
- 4 cloves
- 1 tsp mustard seeds
- 3 whole peppercorn
- 1 tablespoon grated green chili and ginger
- 1 tablespoon grated garlic
- ½ tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp Kashmiri red chili powder
- ¼ tsp garam masala powder
- 2 cup water

Notes: Soak dal and rice in warm water for 20 minutes. Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook the Khichdi until three whistles.
