Ingredients to make Gujarati Bhakri are 9 cups whole wheat flour, 8.5 TSP of salt, water as needed, 8 TBSP of clarified butter(ghee), Sunflower oil for roasting bhakri, 8 TSP of Turbinado sugar, and 3 TBSP of cumin seeds.
Instructions
- Take all the ingredients into a KitchenAid Stand Mixer bowl. Use the dough hook attachment of the KitchenAid and set the bowl in the position.
- Start the mixer using speed 2 to let the flour mixture mix.
- Add water slowly using speed 4 as the dough starts forming.
- Now add oil to make dough less sticky and keep mixing on low speed until dough forms.
- Cover the dough and rest it for few minutes.
- Divide the dough into equal parts and roll the dough to make balls.
- Roll out each pressed ball into even flat round bhakri.
- Preheat the non-stick pan on a medium flame.
- Roast both sides of the bhakri, drizzle 1 tsp or more of sunflower oil till it turns light golden brown.
- Remove it from the pan and place it on the plate.
- Repeat the process for the remaining dough.
