Piano Prodigy???
Written By Kruti Patel
Do you play a type of instrument? I do, and that’s the piano. I’ve been playing the piano for almost five years now, and I wanted to share this with you.
It all started when I was given a small piano. I was playing Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star at about four years old, and the music was so awesome. In December 2015, when I was five years old, I started having piano lessons at a music school called Nutley School of Music.
My teachers were very amazing, kind, and patient. They taught me many songs from a book called Piano Adventures, and there were different levels of books that had various kinds of music, from slow to rapid. Sometimes, I had to have substitute piano teachers since they weren’t always there.
When I was in the level 1 book, I thought it was going to be simple. But it turns out that not everything is as easy as it looks, and sometimes, I couldn’t understand the music and the notes. But the teacher was always there to help me and guide me through the music, teaching me new notes along the way. By levels 2A and 2B, I was good at the piano, but not a piano prodigy yet.
I still needed more practice, so I worked on some of the songs that my music teachers taught me. As I moved on to levels 3A and 3B gradually, the songs became a bit trickier, but I managed to play them with a little practice at the music school and at home.
Do you think that I just played the songs I was learning from the lesson books? Well, you were wrong there! I also played well-known music in levels 2A and 2B-3A and 3B. I played Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Simple Gifts, and even one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time, Jingle Bells! I also worked on Do, Re, Mi in levels 2A-2B, and one time, I even got to learn to play a song by Sia Furler on the piano: Rainbow.
So, how am I doing today, you ask? Well, today, I’m on level 4 in the Piano Adventures. I play beautiful, relaxing music that is pleasing to the ear. I play Gigue in A Major, Blue Danube, and Wild Flowers, which is an elegant piece, in my opinion. I even play a famous piece by Beethoven, Fur Elise!
In conclusion, I think someday you should learn the piano, too! I’m not a piano prodigy yet, but still, I think this is a great way to ease stress and to relax with your fingers dancing on the keyboard. Take the advice from a girl who played the instrument and is going through the learning process!
