Are you trying to find a book that’s suitable for you? Well, then consider yourself reading this book called Ramona Quimby, Age 8!
This book is about our lovable, kind, honest, favorite character, Ramona Quimby! She has started the 3rd grade, and if you adults think it’s easy peasy lemon squeezy, then you would probably be wrong. Life is hard for Ramona as a 3rd grader! She has to deal with Willa Jean, Howie’s younger sister, since Ramona has to go to Howie’s house after school. Ramona also gets the notion that Mrs. Whaley, her 3rd grade teacher, doesn’t like her and thinks she’s a nuisance, after hearing Mrs. Whaley talking to Mrs. Larson about someone who cracked an egg on their head. It oozed all over her hair, and then she, Ramona thought, called her a nuisance and a show-off. Guess who cracked an egg on their hair? It was Ramona Quimby herself!
Ramona also has to deal with the rude bully, Danny the Yard Ape, her grumpy sister, and humiliation at school after vomiting, A.K.A. throwing up! The surprising part is that at the end of the book, when Ramona stays home at school, many children from the 3rd grade wrote cards to her in script, and Yard Ape was one of them! His letter was a bit comical and said, Dear Superfoot, Get well or I will eat your eraser., making Ramona think that Yard Ape actually likes her.
Ramona also has a book report to do on a book. Mrs. Whaley makes it fun by saying they should advertise it. Ramona does her book report with the help of Sara and Janet meowing along in a chorus. However, Ramona totally freezes and then blurts out, “I can’t believe I read the whole thing!” Suddenly, her family is cheerful again, and so is her teacher, Mrs. Whaley. The surprise was that Mrs. Whaley was actually calling Ramona a show-off in an affectionate way and that washing out the egg in Ramona’s hair was a nuisance, not her! Ramona feels better and more positive than negative. The story concludes with the Quimby family going to Whopperburger for dinner and a kind old man paying for it. If you want to hear how the story goes, then read the book!
I absolutely loved this book. The fact that it’s totally incredible is too obvious. It’s perfect in style, humor, and morality! My favorite parts of the book were when Ramona cracked the egg on her hair and when the old man paid for the Quimby family’s dinner. The most hilarious scene in this book was when Ramona vomited in front of everyone! But some part of me feels sorry for Ramona. In conclusion, this book is a hoot, and you will love it right away! It’s full of laughs, friendship, kindness, and love! Happy reading!
