“Hippo Rescue” Article in “National Geographic Kids” Review by Kruti!!!

Are you a hippo fan? Do you love to see pictures of baby hippos? Then this article from National Geographic Kids will cheer you up!

Hippo Rescue is an article that talks about an orphaned baby hippo. He was found around the banks of the Zambezi River, which is in Zambia, a country in Africa. Poor baby hippo! The hippo was stranded there, and one day, Ian Stevenson, a conservationist, saw the hippo while sitting in a boat on the Zambezi River. He and his team brought the baby hippo to their conservation organization, CLZ, which is short for Conservation Lower Zambezi. Stevenson found some helpful tips for feeding a baby hippo and mixed a formula of milk and eggs. However, the baby hippo wouldn’t drink the formula, but after several days of coaxing and cajoling the hippo, the animal started gulping down the mixture.

Soon, the young hippo was taken to a rehabilitation center. At the hippo’s new home, he was named Douglas. Douglas was fed milk, given plenty of attention, and played with a puppy pal. Well, you know what they say: Home, sweet home! I really enjoy this hippo article because the pictures are adorable and funny. I especially love the picture of Douglas the baby hippo being fed milk. It also has a fun-filled caption that says, “Snack time!” In conclusion, this is one hippo article I enjoyed, and I think that Douglas is one very adorable and cute hippo!
