“The House That Lou Built” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Do you love books full of friendship? Do you love lovely books? Do you love architecture? Do you love learning about other cultures? If your answer is yes to all/any of these questions, then this is the right book for you!

The House That Lou Built is about a Filipino girl named Lou who lives with her grandmother and mother in California. She owns land of her own. Her dream is to build a tiny house on that land, just like her father wanted to. Sadly, her father died about a month before she was born. Lou enjoys life in California…until one day, bad news arrives.

Lou’s mom says that they would probably have to move. She found a new job in Washington as a doctor. Lou gets upset and then comes up with a great idea: if she finishes her tiny house on the land she owns, then maybe she can convince her mom to stay in California. Why doesn’t Lou want to move? Because all of her friends and family are here, and she doesn’t want to leave that behind. Even the land she owns! With the help of her friends, she might be able to finish the house! Bad news strikes again, though.

It turns out that Lou’s mom can’t pay the taxes for Lou’s land. It’s going to be used for an auction if the family doesn’t pay the taxes! It seems like things get worse and worse. But Lou won’t allow her land to go. She doesn’t want to give up her dream of building a house. Can Lou, her friends, and family make sure that they finish the house, save the land, and prevent Lou’s move?

This is a great book! It has excellent personality! This book is written by the author, Mae Respicio. This is her first novel. It’s an outstanding book for writing your first novel! I recommend this book to ages 9-12 and to fans of architecture and culture. What are you waiting for?! Go ahead and read The House That Lou Built, a dazzling book that you’ll love!!!
