If you’ve heard of this series and were waiting for this book, but can’t buy it right now, I can describe it to you! However, I will not give any spoilers.
Jack, June, Dirk, and Quint accidentally get picked up by a Mallusk, and delivered to a mall by other creatures with weird names. There, several monsters are inhabiting the place, especially Ghatz and Evie (Evie’s not literally a monster, she’s just cold. But metaphorically.) Jack and his friends realize that Ghatz and Evie are ruling this place and get uttermost respect from telling lies about their power. So an election is held for who gets to be mayor. Jack tries to be a good leader, but Ghatz and Evie are making it hard for that to happen. A, they are telling lies which the monsters believe, B, they built a ski park, and C, it’s literally four people against a human and a giant cosmic rat.
When they reach Nebraska after the election, Jack and his friends have to fight a Howler controlled by Thrull’s vines. Jack and Evie plummet to the ground when Ghatz realizes that Jack has his powers. They encounter some kind of roadkill-like creature. It looks like the Howler is in control of the creature, and since they’re related to the Winged Wretch, they can also give visions. The vision Jack sees is his imagination, and he realizes it’s his fault the monsters are in danger.
When Jack and his friends get back to the mall, the Howler is defeated, and Jack walks in, suspending his campaign. He told the entire truth, not leaving any part of it out. He gives his campaign to Johnny Steve, who wins and becomes mayor. Thrull comes in person at that time, and Jack and his friends have a huge epic fight. I will not say how this fight goes, however. For, I have said, I will not reveal anything TOO shocking….
If you want to find out what happens, read the book! It includes illustrations and funny dialogue. It was released in 2021, and the next book will come in 2022. I recommend this to 9 and up if you like scary things, but if you can’t handle things like that, then ages 10 and up is who I advise to read this book.
