Empow”HER” Girl Scout Session 2 Summary by Kruti!!!

Today, I had my second session of Girl Scouts and experienced it again. It was a bit more enjoyable than last time since the person who got interviewed and talked to us today was a military woman named Salles. Salles talked all about feeling included and including others as well as her job. Other girls shared their experiences as well, including me.

First, we waited for about 10 minutes for everyone to come since some of us came early. I talked to my friend, Vedanti, for a bit. Session 2 started a few minutes after. Next, we were introduced to Salles. Salles was asked questions by Josephina after she introduced herself since some girls didn’t come to the session before. Salles was asked questions like, “What is a regular day like in the military?” or “Were there ever any men who said they were better than you or saying that men are better than women?” Salles also talked about how she felt like it was important for yourself to be valued as well as others as well as boost your self-esteem. While this was happening, everyone took notes on the session.

After discussing this, everyone looked at the yellow sheet of paper we received at the beginning that had positive quotes on it. We all circled the ones we liked the most. Then we started to use markers, our pens, and 10 small rectangular pieces of paper to write quotes down for cases when you need a bit of positivity or motivation in your life. For example, before a soccer game, a basketball game, or even a test, you can pull one out of a tin box we got and read it to feel a bit motivated.

The Girl Scout session was about to come to an end, and we used up all the time to make the tin cards. However, we did have enough time to take a group photo with Salles and Josephina. Some moms, including mine, came and also took pictures! Lastly, it was time for the raffle. The grand prize was a 75-dollar Escape Room Adventure! Sadly, I didn’t win it. But there’s always next time. It was unfortunate time was up, but on the bright side, I had a great time today! Once again, if you’re a girl, you should definitely come. You’ll have an amazing time and might even see some people you know there! If you don’t, then it’s a chance to meet new people!
