Today, I had my third session with Girl Scouts. It was somewhat fun, but on the other hand, I don’t do community service often. A community service woman named Ellaine talked to us about it, and she got interviewed by Josephine. Other girls also joined in on the conversation.
First, we didn’t know where to go in the building for Girl Scout since it wasn’t in its regular location. It was in a huge ballroom, but there were still chairs and a table in the front. I was a bit early again, but my friend, Vedanti, didn’t come. She wasn’t late, so she was probably on vacation. Next, after waiting a few more minutes, we got started. Josephine introduced herself to the new girls in Girl Scouts, and she interviewed Ellaine and asked her questions like, “What is your day like at work?” or “Why did you decide to do this?”
Ellaine was talking about how she liked doing community service and it made her feel good. Plus, when she walked in and donated to areas, people smiled there. I guess that would make a person happy, so it encouraged me to start doing a bit of community service as well. Ellaine continued and discuss how it can also boost your self-esteem. After the interview was finished, we started our fun project, which was the most pleasant of them all to me.
We first got 8 brown bags and then got more if we wanted, but we ran out. We also got one marker and wrote positive messages on all of the bags. Here are some of the messages I wrote: “Just keep swimming!”, “Smile!”, and “You are loved!” Next, we all packed food and water into the bags in 16 minutes! And we made about 300 lunches in total! Each bag had a water bottle, a fruit cup, crackers, and a granola bar.
After we finished, I was sad it ended. It was fun knowing that this would help people in need of food and water. The session was about to come to an end, but we still had some time. We all took a group photo with the bags containing food. Lastly, it was time for the raffle! The grand prize was a trip to a rock climbing place! Sadly, I didn’t win that again. I wish I would win the grand prize!! But I’m glad that I at least won the small prize. However, it was the same one: a notebook and pen. So I gave it to someone else. I already won it, so I didn’t need another one.
In conclusion, this Girl Scout session was pretty engrossing (that means enjoyable, by the way)!
