Mini Mathiya

Mathiya is a popular Gujarati snack made during festival of Diwali. But now it’s common to make mathiya any time of the year as a very famous any time snack. It is made using mathiya flour, wheat flour, ajawain, sesame seeds, sugar, and red chilli powder. It is CRISPY and is considered the most tempted snack. It has a sugary and salty flavor. It is loved by all ages, especially kids. It can be complement well with a cup of tea or coffee. Ingredients

  • 4 cups Mathiya Flour
  • 3/4 cup Wheat Flour
  • 3 TBSP Sunflower Oil
  • 4 TBSP Sesame Seeds
  • 1.5 TSP Ajwain
  • 8 TBSP Turbinado Sugar
  • 1 TBSP Salt
  • 2 TBSP Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  • 2 cups Warm Water
  • Sunflower Oil for Deep Frying

Directions

  1. Mix mathiya flour and wheat flour in a big bowl. Then add ajawain and sesame seeds to the flour. Add sunflower oil in the flour and mix everything well.
  2. Then add red chilli powder and salt to the flour and mix it well.
  3. Take 2 cups of water and luke-warm them. Then add sugar in them and stir with the help of a spoon.
  4. Gradually add water into flour and make a stiff dough. Then grease it well with sunflower oil.
  5. Divide dough into equal portion and roll it in a thin log shape.
  6. Take all logs one by one and cut them in a equal parts.
  7. Take a small size ball and roll it slightly thick. Make mini-puri-size mathiya.
  8. Heat the sunflower oil for deep frying mathiya.
  9. Add mathiya on high flame, then lower the flame until it becomes crispy and golden brown.
  10. Fry the rest of the mathiya in the same way.
  11. Let them cool before storing in an airtight container.
