“Patina” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Hello! Today, I will be talking about an amazingly written book that’s part of a series. It’s called Patina, and after looking at this review, you’ll be very tempted to read it.

Patina is a book about a girl named Patina, or Patty. She has a sad backstory since her dad died when she was very young, and her sister was still not born yet. Patina’s dad fell asleep one night and then…he never woke up again. A few months after that, due to diabetes, her mother had to have her legs amputated. She started to then have to travel around in a wheelchair.

Since their mother couldn’t take care of them, the mother’s brother-in-law and his wife, Emily, take care of Patina and her sister, Maddie. But that means that Patina and Maddie have to move from their old neighborhood to with the brother-in-law, Uncle Tony, and Emily (Momly). That also means they switch to a new school called Chester Academy.

Maddie likes it since she has never experienced a public school before. But Patina doesn’t really like having to wear uniforms, the school name, and the school itself. She misses her best friend, Cotton, and doesn’t really have friends at school. Patina also runs on the track team and is new, but she has friends there, like Lu, Ghost, and Sunny.

At school, Patina gets paired up with three other girls for a group project. But she thinks that she has to do all the work since Becca, Teylor, and Taylor aren’t really paying attention for the first few meetings. Patina and Becca then start forming a bit of a bond by sitting at the same lunch table and researching about the topic for the project: Frida Kahlo. But Teylor and Taylor are still not doing anything for the project.

Then something happens. Momly and Maddie get in a car accident. Thankfully, Maddie isn’t hurt at all, and although she’s hurt, Momly just has a mild concussion and a broken arm. It could have been worse, so it’s fortunate. On top of that, Patina has to work hard for the track race on Saturday for relay racing. You have to pass the baton to the person on your team when you pass the red zone and then keep running. It’s hard since you have to keep in sync with each other.

Will Patina and her group actually be able to finish the project? Will Patina’s aunt actually be okay? Will she win the race? Find out in this exciting book, filled with moral messages and a satisfactory plot.

I would rate this book 5 stars because of how amazing the book was. The plot was interesting, and so were the characters. If you can’t get enough of these characters, then you should read all of the other books of the series as well! So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and read this book!
