“Cupcake Diaries: Emma on Thin Ice” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Hello! Today we will be talking about the third book from the Cupcake Diaries series: Emma on Thin Ice! Hope this review convinces you to buy the book and read it for yourself. 🙂

Cupcake Diaries: Emma on Thin Ice is a book about a girl named Emma who is part of the Cupcake Club. She has 3 brothers: Sam, Matt, and Jake, and a mom and a dad. But they are short on money, so to earn more money, they try getting jobs to help. Sam works at the movie theater, Matt doesn’t work, Jake doesn’t work either, and Emma earns money by having a dog-walking business and from the Cupcake Club money. The dad and mom also have jobs, but the jobs cause them to not return until a late time at night.

Emma is someone who likes to be organized, and she tries to manage her schedule in a nice way. One day, the Cupcake Club starts brainstorming new flavor ideas for cupcakes. Emma comes up with bacon cupcakes, and everyone starts gagging at the idea. But who knew it would transform into food for a wedding? Mia reveals that her mother is getting married and that Emma, Katie, Alexis, and her are going to be junior bridesmaids for her! They all are excited and start jumping up and down. The wedding also requires cupcakes, so they decide to start brainstorming for that as well.

However, now that Emma’s mom can’t pick up Jake from the bus, Emma and Matt have to switch turns to do it. Emma starts to struggle a bit to take care of Jake, bake cupcakes at meetings, and walk dogs. Emma’s dad sternly lectures her when two mishaps have happened. The first time was when Emma almost lost Jake because she was walking a dog. Jake rode on his scooter by himself, which is illegal for 8 year olds and below. The second time was when Jake and her friends were gone when Emma came back from walking a few dogs. They went shopping for stuff, but her dad gets mad again.

Soon, it’s time to shop for bridesmaid dresses. Emma is hoping they’re not too expensive. Mia’s mom and the girls go to The Special Day store at the mall and look at all of the dress. Soon, Emma spots a dress that looks super glamorous and amazing! And when she tries it on, everyone is mesmerized by the beauty of it. So they decide that’s the dress they are getting. Only one small problem: it costs 250 dollars, which is more than Emma can afford! What will she do now? With babysitting Jake, having to now make bacon cupcakes for some of her dog-walking customers, trying to keep up with Cupcake Club meetings, having to now buy a 250 dollar dress, and doing homework-can she actually do all of this? Or will she mess up and not get to be a junior bridesmaid? Read the book to find out!

This book is excellent! I would rate it 5 stars because of how it keeps you glued to the pages, its funny characters, and its descriptions of the cupcakes. I would recommend this book to girls 10-14 years old since they can relate to the story the most. So go ahead and read the book!
