“Cupcake Diaries: Mia in the Mix” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Hey! Have you been looking for a book to read that is intriguing but won’t take you super long to finish? Then you should try out this book!

Cupcake Diaries: Mia in the Mix is the second book of the Cupcake Diaries series. Mia is part of the Cupcake Club started by her best friend, Katie, in the first book of the series. They got the idea from the PGC, which they all hate because the girls from that club are mean. The members are Callie, Katie’s ex-best friend, Sydney, Maggie, and Bella. One day, the girls start talking to Mia. This is probably because they kind of admired her sense of fashion. On that day, Mia is supposed to wear a sweatshirt given as a prize since the girls all planned it. However, she uses it as a bag instead. Katie is cool with it, while the others, Alexis and Emma, are a bit disappointed, but it’s okay. Mia still feels a bit guilty though.

In science, Ms. Biddle asks the Cupcake Club to make cupcakes for a baby shower, and they accept the offer. They even give a teacher discount! They discuss plans at Emma’s house and start thinking about baking at Mia’s house for the cupcakes. After that, Mia and her mom go to the mall and see the PGC girls there again! Mia and the other girls talk about clothes in the clothing store they’re in, and Mia’s mom tells about how she has worked with famous designers before. Mia and her mom then have to go, and they say bye. But Mia hasn’t mentioned anything about the PGC girls yet to Alexis, Katie, and Emma.

Mia invites Ava for dinner when she’s at her dad’s apartment on the weekend. They are best friends, but  Mia moved away, so they don’t get to see each other as much. And later on, Mia discovers Dad has a girlfriend. They go to an art show, where Alina’s art is. But it pretty much seems very weird and meaningless. Katie and the other girls start catching on that Mia is hanging out with Callie, Maggie, Bella, and Sydney a bit more. They don’t say much, but in their heads, they don’t really like the idea of it. Mia even starts sitting with them at lunch sometimes.

One day, her mom asks her and her cupcake crew to make 8 dozen cupcakes for her fashion show, and Mia accepts the offer. For this fashion show, Mia and her friends are also baking cupcakes: vanilla spice and applesauce spice cupcakes. But soon, Mia finds herself having to deal with inviting three other people to her mom’s fashion show. It can’t be Emma, since she is going to her brother’s game. Sydney wouldn’t go along great with Katie and Callie: it would be awkward. Who will she pick to go with her? Read the book to find out!

This book is amazing! The plot is a bit relatable, and the cupcake-creating descriptions make you hungry. I recommend this book to girls 10-14 because they will probably understand the most and relate the most to this stuff. So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and read Cupcake Diaries: Mia in the Mix!!
