Thandai is a popular refreshing beverage served during Indian festivals such as Holi and Mahashivratri. It’s made with a special blend of nuts and spices and mixed with milk. This luscious drink can be creamy, and you will fall in love with it. It can be served chilled for a better taste. Thandai means “cooling”. Thandai can be a cool drink for summer to cool down heat waves. Follow the easy recipe and add a splash of color and fun to Holi celebrations. Garnish with chopped almonds, pistachios, dried rose petals, and saffron.

Ingredients

  • 25 blanched and peeled almonds
  • 10 blanched cashews
  • 40 blanched and peeled pistachios
  • 3 tbsp soaked poppy seeds
  • 3 tbsp melon seeds
  • a few strands of saffron
  • 8 green cardamoms
  • few pieces of cinnamon sticks
  • 10 black peppercorns
  • ½ cup water
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup chilled milk
  • 4 cups chilled milk
