Bengaluru or Bangalore is called a garden city, the Silicon Valley of India.
During Middle School Spring Break, Kruti and I took a short trip to Bengaluru, India. Looking for the best silk sarees that can be worn by women of all ages? You guessed it right? South India, especially Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Mysore, and Chennai. Some famous South Indian silk sarees are Kanjivaram silk, Mysore silk, Banarasi silk, and Ikat Pochampally silk; shopping for a silk saree was difficult because there were so many choices. We bounced around from silk saree stores to other silk saree stores and picked the best ones. Here are the list of stores we shopped sarees from:
- Nalli Silks
- Vijayalakshmi Silks
- Deepam Silks
- Manjunatha Silks
It was a long-distance trip to India, but it was worth it—we made many memories, ate delicious South Indian food, and enjoyed ourselves. While on board at the ITC Gardenia, we had bittermelon, gooseberry, cucumber, and ginger juice almost daily. We shopped for Kruti’s lehnga choli at Meraj, Samyakk, and Manyavar. I ended my trip by trying the Laal Peda from Aanad Sweet on Commercial Street. It was delicious. We waited for many hours at the airport to get on board to get back home. I can’t get over the craftsmanship of making silk sarees, especially their beauty, colorful, golden and silver zari, designs, fabrics, patterns, flowers, leaves, and geometric shapes; a true labor of love will be remembered by me forever.
Overall, Kruti and I had a wonderful time during the stayover in a week trip to India.
