Ingredients to make fafda are 2 cups gram flour, 1 TSP papad khar, 1 TSP carom seeds, 1 TSP salt, 1/4 TSP turmeric powder, 3 TBSP sunflower oil, water as needed, and oil for frying.
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine gram flour, turmeric powder, carom seeds, salt and papad khar. Mix it with your hands.
- Add 2 TBSP of oil and water to make a soft and stretchable dough.
- After making the dough, knead it with 1 TBSP oil until it becomes soft.
- Heat oil in a metal kadai for deep frying.
- Take a wood cutting board and apply little oil on it.
- Take little dough and put it on the wood cutting board, then press it with your palm and roll a long and thin fafda. You can use knife in between wood and fafda from one end to remove it from the wood.
- First deep fry fafda in a medium heat. Then let it cook for few minutes at a low heat.
- Deep fry it until golden and crisp. Then take out the fafda and drain it on absorbent paper towel.
Fafda are Gujarati’s favorite snack made from gram flour. Fafda are crispy and soft snack and are enjoyed with raw papaya chutney during breakfast. Almost all Gujarati adore fafda as a snack, so does our family including Kruti.
