“Upside Down Magic: Night Owl” Book Review by Kruti!!!

Do you love magic? Do you love fantasy books? Then this is the right book for you!

Upside Down Magic: Night Owl is a book about a girl named Nory who is a UDM, or someone who has Upside Down Magic. She goes to a magic school in Dunwiddle and lives with her aunt. Tonight is a very special night, for Nory and her friends will have a sleepover together at school. The special occasion? Big Night, a festive day when people make folded owls. It’s the longest night of the year!

The best part for this sleepover is that there will be a scavenger hunt! The team who finds all the items will get access to a secret room! Nory and her friends arrive at the sleepover, set up their sleeping bags, pair into teams, and immediately start finding the items. Elliot, one of Nory’s best friends, is with Nory, Pepper, and Andres. Nory wants to win the scavenger hunt so that Elliot will rethink going to Sage Academy. Elliot is going to Sage Academy, a fancy private school, and leaving Dunwiddle, so Nory wants to make sure that they win so they can have the secret room. Then Elliot won’t move to another school!

Meanwhile, the other UDM’s are a team, and Sebastian, Nory’s friend, wants to win so bad. He wants to win the scavenger hunt so he can have access to the secret room and have peace and quiet. His power is to see sound waves and invisible objects, but it hurts. As people with magic grow, the more stronger their powers get. As Sebastian grows, his powers are getting more painful instead of better. He gets headaches and can’t really think straight with a lot of noise.

To win this scavenger hunt, the students will need more than powers, skills, and logic to succeed. They also need friendship and loyalty. And that means understanding other friends’ feelings and not just thinking about other things, like winning the scavenger hunt. Will Nory be able to prevent Elliot from leaving Dunwiddle? And will Sebastian finally get peace and quiet, or will things get worse?

This book is very fun to read! I bet you will absorb it in an hour or so! That’s how much you’ll probably love it! I recommend this book for ages 9-12 and to magic and fantasy fans. So what are you waiting for? Read this lovely and elegant piece of writing!
