Do you love rocks and minerals? Are you a geology fan/nerd? Then this is the right article for you!
This article is about 8 amazing and phenomenal rocks and minerals. I think that many geology fans and people who are experts on rocks and minerals would love this! First of all is the mystical amethyst. The amethyst is totally a real mineral. In the 1800’s, when it was first found, it was REALLY expensive. In fact, it was so expensive that queens used to wear amethysts as jewelry. Nowadays, several people can afford it. Amazing fact, right?
The second beauty we shall look at is a geodes, or a spherical rock that forms in many ways. I think the patterns inside these rocks are marvelous. I mean, they look so fascinating!!! Who wouldn’t want to peer at them for hours?! Fun fact: some geodes are SO humongous that you can actually stand inside them! If I saw a geodes in real life like that, I would TOTALLY stand in it!!!
The third one is a quartz crystal. Now this one gets its color from a thin layer of titanium that covers it. It’s an artificial process using a special vacuum chamber. Even though its color is received from an artificial process, the colors are really elegant! I think it should be called a unicorn rock because of its bright and pretty colors. Don’t you think so? The fourth is “fool’s gold.” I think we all know about that one. One word: pyrite. Pyrite is a shiny mineral that looks like gold. It’s very useful for making a fire. If you want a nice, hot fire, just strike the mineral against a rock or metal.
Now, we have calcite! This is a very specific specimen of calcite, for it is made of calcium carbonate and shows off many shapes, color, and textures. It’s from the Natural History Museum in London, England. I would definitely go see it during a short vacation. Who knows? It might even have more things for me to learn about!
