Picture this: a dog “playing” with an octopus, a species of parrots, about 40 years ago almost went extinct but luckily had a fortunate comeback, and a cat is wearing glasses! These scenarios kind of sound outlandish and peculiar, but once you hear the stories with more details, you might change your mind about them not being legitimate.
The first story is about a dog named Lucy “playing” with an octopus. When she and her owners were walking near tidal pools, their tennis ball arched into the water. A tentacle suddenly clutched it, and guess whose tentacle it was? An octopus! The octopus rolled it around a bit but lugged it into the sea again. According to marine biologist Jenny Hofmeister, octopi are inquisitive, so they generally inspect contemporary objects. Looks like Lucy isn’t the only one interested in tennis balls!
The next story is about a Chilean burrowing parrot, a species of parrots that almost went extinct about 40 years ago. They live on cliffs, so people hung from ropes to capture chicks from burrows up there. The chicks were sold to others, but because of this, by 1986, only 217 remained. However, the area was soon advocated as a national reserve, which meant no more people apprehending and selling these critters. Now, there are about 4,500 parrots who live in the reserve!
This last animal story is the one you’ve all been waiting for. (Maybe, but I don’t know.) Anyways, this is about a cat who wears glasses! This kitty is named Truffles and belongs to an eye doctor who helps children who have perception dilemmas. Truffles helps them with their anxiousness about people coming close to their eyes. The doctor asks if they want to see Truffles, who wears glasses. Then Truffles will sit near the children, and the kitten lets the owner place glasses on her eyes. The doctor, Danielle Crull, trained Truffles to wear the glasses in only a few days. Of course, she can take them off anytime with her paws, but she seems to relish her spectacles so much that she even sleeps in them sometimes!
As you can see, these animal stories are genuine and cool! They can teach you about animals and entertain you with their playful tales (tails). See what I did there? Hope you enjoyed these stories and learned something new!
